Our Design and Installation Process:
Step 1: Ramble & Root Initial Consultation - Client Survey
Plan for this to be about 1 to 1½ hrs. long. Think about where might be the best place for your new garden. When we arrive we will go over the best layout for your specific place and your families needs. During this time we will take measurements, go over your client survey (which we email you), and talk more in depth about questions you may have and specific goals for your space. As we walk through the space, we will get a feel for the layout and begin brainstorming ideas.
This initial consultation is $75, which includes a post meet write up about what we discussed during the consultation and an estimate for your garden space. If you would like designs as well, a basic run down is an additional $75.
Step 2: Custom Garden Design
Our custom garden designs start at $75 if you use us to install, and $150 if you choose not to. Our design layouts and bids will usually take about a week to get back to you in order for you to review. You will receive a design blue print of how your garden will be laid out, how much it will cost according to your specific wants and needs, and what specific plants will be planted.
Step 3: Finalizing Your Design
Once you receive your bid we ask for you to go over it carefully. Let us know if you have any questions or want to tweak anything in the estimate and design. Is there anything that you would like to add or change? Once beds are installed, they are not easily moved. After your approval, we will agree on a timeline of installation. We ask for a 50% deposit up front, and will have scheduled payments due according to when different stages in the project are finished.
Step 4: Custom Garden Installation
Once the bid has been agreed upon, and the deposit has been made we will proceed with the installation process. Gathering materials and prep work will take us 2-4 days depending on the scale of the job. We prefer to pre-fabricate as much as possible before we reach your house for installation. But the time on the job site will vary according to the design.
Step 5: Garden Maintenance
You can choose weather you want Ramble & Root to maintain your garden or if you would like to maintain it yourself. In either case, you are given a copy of our book, Reviving Homegrown: A beginner’s Guide to Vegetable Gardening, to help guide you in the process of maintaining and tracking your garden throughout the year. We also always welcome questions via phone or e-mail if you ever get stumped.
